    Masterless

Kane Madison is an architect working in Los Angeles while his doppelganger-like spirit, an eighteenth century Ronin, wanders a parallel netherworld of masked demons and Japanese swordsmen.

When tragedy strikes, Kane embarks on a journey of faith which prompts the Ronin to seek out his true master in the spirit world… both will face many battles along their interweaving roads to peace.

    Dove Review:

“Masterless” clearly shows the peril of having no master. The enemy of our soul is our master if we do not follow the Good Shepherd. Kane Madison (Adam LaVorgna) works hard and is a good husband, but doesn’t want to hear about God from his wife, Emi (Okiko Saito). She keeps her faith despite her physical illness and her husband’s lack of faith. Kane tells her, “when we die, we die,” and she tells him he is wrong, that people must fight and the “prize is our soul.”

As Kane goes through tests and difficulties, such as losing his job, his struggles are portrayed in the spiritual realm, represented by Asian martial art sword fights between good guys and bad guys. Kane is shown in battle, with longer hair, dressed in martial art robes, and wielding a sword. Ultimately, he leans on the Lord’s grace to be the valiant warrior he needs to be. When faced with a major disappointment, Kane will need to call upon God’s grace for all he’s worth.

Fighting a good fight of faith, love and devotion, and leaning on God’s grace are all themes of this unique, fantasy-oriented film. We are happy to award our Dove “Faith-Friendly” Seal for ages 12+ to this movie. It does a good job encouraging the viewer not to be “masterless.”
